In population-based study, eating nuts is good for health ,a study of 86,000 women by British medical scientists found that those who ate 20g of nuts a day were 35 per cent less likely to have a heart attack than those who ate less than 5g a week.
Researchers at Harvard University in the us also found that men who ate nuts two or three times a week were 30 percent less likely to die from heart disease and 47 percent less likely to die from a heart attack than men who ate few nuts at all.
Accroding the telegraph reported,a recent study by the national institutes of health and the international nut council, published in the (New England Journal of Medicine), tracked the eating and exercise habits of 120,000 americans from 1980 to 2010.Over the course of the 30-year study, people who regularly ate nuts once a week had an 11 percent lower risk of dying from disease, and those who ate them two to four times a week had a 13 percent lower risk.Those who ate five to six times a week had a 15 percent reduction, and those who ate nuts every day had a 20 percent reduction in death.Eating nuts three times a week reduced the risk of cancer by 55%.A new study from the university of lovella ivorkiri in Spain found that eating nuts (especially walnuts) more than three times a week reduced the risk of death from cancer by 55 percent and from heart disease by 40 percent.Nuts also reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome and diabetes.
This is because nuts are rich in linoleic acid, vitamin E and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium that play a key role.
Although nuts are good, but the calories is on the high side, so it is advisable to eat about 20 grams every day , had better not exceed a handful.
